Another Run is now touring in support of their new release, so be on the look out in a city near you!On February 1st OCEANS OF SLUMBER self-released a progressive metal whirlwind called Aetherial.
Having met Riding Easy Records head hauncho Daniel Hall over instagram in May of 2014 when the record was ready to listen to, Riding Easy was one of the first that it was sent to and picked up the band immediately after hearing the finished album Empress Rising that then was released worldwide on April 1.
The second album, Vænir, will be released worldwide April 28th. With their latest release titled "Be Honest" you hear an evolution from the Rock, Indie, Alternative sounds heard on their previous album "I'll Be There", as they continue to add even more flavors of Prog, Pop, and Soul into the fold.
"Be Honest" takes things into a new element, and you begin to see a band that is forging a sound all their own.
They have shared the stage with some amazing artists such as Mutemath, Glassjaw, Maps & Atlases, Ok Go, and New Politics, and are also known for their intense and highly energetic live performances.
Musical classification is of no interest to the band however.
Instead, OCEANS OF SLUMBER create waves of stimulating atmosphere and use their talents to exploit the dynamics of the music, thereby creating the undeniably epic wall of sound that has become the Texans' trademark.
The person responsible for the mixing and mastering of Aetherial, UK madman Russ Russell (NAPALM DEATH, DIMMU BORGIR, EVILE, etc.), had this to say about his work with Houston prog-metallers: "Oceans of Slumber are of one of the top 10bands I've ever worked with.
Formed in 2013, this band is made up of Swedish rockers Thomas Jäger, Esben Willems, and Mika Häkki.
Both Jäger and Willems were in the Swedish boogie rock band Marulk and started Monolord as a side project as a way to play some more heavier tunes, they quickly added Häkki (from The Don Darlings, ex Rotten Sound) and realized that they had something very special between the 3 of them.
Monolord became very real very quickly and recording commenced in early 2013.
Thomas Jäger had not sung in a band before this one, but you would never know it by the sound of it.
